Bar Harbor/ Stylish accommodations and gourmet breakfasts are the hallmarks of this deluxe B&B, grandly reborn in 2004 after a year’s renovations. Teri and Jeffrey Anderholm offer an uncommon amount of common space and ten spacious guest rooms, all suavely decorated by Teri in her vision of “grand cottage style.” Antiques and 19th-century architectural elements blend comfortably with light colors, stunning art and contemporary amenities for a refined 21st-century look. Rooms on four floors vary from a queen bedroom with a fireplace on the main floor to a skylit “penthouse retreat” in the old attic with a kingsize bed, whirlpool tub and separate shower. The largest is a second-floor corner room with kingsize poster bed, a white chaise lounge beside the fireplace and a whirlpool tub for two. All rooms have TV/DVDs, telephones, Poland Spring bottled water and abundant toiletries, and five yield water views. The main-floor common areas include a rattan-furnished front atrium/sun porch, a large parlor that doubles as a library and music room with a baby grand piano, a clubby lounge with a fireplace and a well-stocked guest pantry off the professional kitchen. Teri, who trained as a chef and helped open Yanks
restaurant near their former home on The dining room section of the wraparound sun porch is dressed like a restaurant with ten tables set with white linens. It is the setting for a breakfast to remember. Cappuccino muffins and lobster quiche with a side of roasted tomatoes were featured at our latest visit. Egg and crab strata with blueberry scones and spicy pecan waffles with chicken-bourbon sausage are other guest favorites.
