Rockport An in-town location draws guests to this attractive, flower-bedecked Greek Revival house built in 1851 and boasting Rockport's first bathtub – in the kitchen, no less. That bathtub has been replaced, of course, but all five air-conditioned guest rooms and a two-room suite come with large and modern hand-tiled bathrooms with reproduction fixtures. Innkeepers Cynthia Francis and Ed Cambron run a B&B that had been renovated and redecorated from top to bottom, and repainted salmon with dark green trim. The main-floor Captain's Room, dressed in subtle period green wallpaper above the wainscoting, focuses on a fishnet-canopied, queensize mahogany poster bed. The second-floor Hearth Room (named for the chimney rising through the room) is done in blue and white accents and a lace queen canopy bed. The third-floor Penthouse Suite, furnished in white wicker with a queen canopy bed draped in lace, has television, refrigerator and a view of the ocean across the rooftops. All rooms come with irons, robes and hair dryers. The comfortable living room with its restored antique mantel over the fireplace, a small rear library with TV and a dining room with a beehive oven are cheery. Each contains antiques and original art. A continental-plus breakfast buffet includes fresh fruit, cereal, homemade granola, yogurt, homemade baked goods and house-blend coffee. It's taken in the dining room or at intimate tables for two on the narrow side porch facing showy perennial gardens across the driveway. The rear Carriage House contains two cathedral-ceilinged townhouse suites with kitchenettes, TV and loft bedrooms available by the day or week. The Choate with a spiral staircase and skylights in the bathroom and bedroom has particular flair. (978) 546-7543 or (800) 245-7543. Fax (978) 546-7638. E-mail: info@addisonchoateinn.com.
