Gettysburg The most upscale inn in Gettysburg emerged Cinderella-like in 1995 from a ramshackle downtown apartment house. Founding innkeepers Dennis and Roberta Sullivan fulfilled what they planned as “a deluxe in-town oasis” with nine custom-decorated guest rooms. All have queen or king beds and private baths, four with two-seat steam bath/showers and two with double jacuzzi tubs. Six have gas fireplaces. Telephones and TV sets are in each room. The rooms are beauties. A Louis XIV bedstead and a rococo table lend a French provincial look to the romantic, third-floor Lily Room in front. Its see-through gas fireplace is open to the double jacuzzi in the bathroom and the queensize bed in the room, where the walls are rag-rolled in shades of taupe, shrimp and blue. The June Rose Room, incorporating roses on the comforter, is light and dainty. The Sweet William in the rear, rich in burgundy and cream, has a queensize brass bed with an antique Persian carpet for a bed cover, plus access to the third-floor balcony. That balcony is also available to occupants in the adjacent Aster Room, dressed in beige and blue with a kingsize featherbed, sofabed and chaise lounge. The handicapped-accessible Daisy Room at the rear of the ground floor opens onto a pleasant brick patio. The rear of the second floor holds a small TV room with video library and a balcony for general guest use. Other common areas include a formal double parlor separated by pocket doors and decked out in oriental draperies that puddle on the floor, and an elegant dining room with a large cherry gateleg table and four stained-glass wall hangings backlit for accents. Outside are a side porch and a gaslit brick patio beside lovely rear gardens and a fountain. The morning repast can be a healthful, light continental affair or a full meal, always with an egg dish and perhaps crępes with strawberries and champagne sauce. Coffee or cold beverages are served with a variety of baked goods in the afternoon. Nine rooms with private baths. Doubles, $120 to
