Waitsfield and
Warren A wonderfully
secluded setting on nine acres next to the Sugarbush Golf Course and Ski
Touring Center, a quaint Vermont home dating to the 1850s and welcoming
hosts commend this eight-room B&B. Not to be overlooked are luxury
amenities, gourmet breakfasts, occasional dinners and charming common

king/twin beds and gas fireplaces. Their spacious baths feature jacuzzi
tubs or steam showers. Thick towels and robes are the norm. The TV sets
offer access to the inn's 450-title movie collection. In addition to
complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access, free phone calls to anywhere in the
Guests gather in any of three large common
rooms. There
is a huge living room with a stone fireplace, comfortable chairs and a
round table ideal for playing board games. At the side is a small wet
bar, where guests help themselves to snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine
using the honor system. From the living room you walk through to the
bright, vaulted-ceiling sunroom with windows onto the gardens on three
sides. It provides access to the large deck – covered with a high
canopy in the summer months – and pathways to the gardens.
At the front of the house is a massive library with brick
fireplace, where there’s a pool table for guest use. Guests relax on the
wicker-filled front porch or the large side deck facing bird feeders,
tiny red squirrels, a gazebo built from birch logs, ornamental ponds and
prolific gardens. Guests who stroll in the gardens find delightful
places to sit and relax. Breakfast on the deck
or in the beamed English antique dining room begins with juice, homemade
sweet breads or muffins and a special fruit dish. The menu of
the day might include sweet pepper scrambled eggs, ginger pancakes with
lemon sauce, pain perdu with Susan, who loves to
cook and entertain, prepares optional candlelight dinners with soup,
salad, entrée and dessert on Saturday evenings by prior arrangement for
six or more guests. Among guest favorites are roast chicken basted with
maple syrup over roasted vegetables, braised pork chops with onions and
apples, coq au vin and beef bourguignonne. Five rooms and
three suites, all with private en-suite baths. Doubles, $150 to $220 weekends, $140 to
$200 midweek. Add $15 for foliage season and holidays. Two-night minimum
weekends, three-night minimum preferred for foliage
and holiday weekends. Children over 12.
